In May 2026, fans marked the birthday of actor Lee Jae-wook (이재욱) with a wide lightbox at Apgujeong Station (압구정역) on Seoul Subway Line 3. The Lee Jae-wook birthday ad reads "Happy jae wook Day!" between four silver balloon numbers, 0, 5, 1 and 0, and it is signed by a fan group at the top right. Our photos were taken on 11 May 2026. Here is what the panel shows and how fans abroad can set up something like it.

Where was the ad displayed?

The lightbox hangs on a cream tiled wall with a brown stripe, in a station passage with yellow tactile paving on the floor. Further down the corridor there is a notice board headed "서울교통공사 게시판" ("Seoul Metro notice board"), with ticket gates beyond it. That board is how we know the station belongs to the Seoul Metro network.

The station name does not appear in any of our photos. Our own record of the booking places this ad at Apgujeong Station on Line 3, so that is the station we list here.

What did the ad look like?

The whole panel is sky blue and white, with soft cloud shapes along the bottom. A side-on photo of Lee Jae-wook fills the centre: white striped shirt, dark tie, cheeks puffed out, and a small white heart drawn on his cheek.

Around him float four mirror-finish balloon numbers. "0" and "5" are on the left, "1" and "0" on the right, which together give the date 05.10. Between the left-hand balloons, the headline "Happy jae wook Day!" is set in rounded white letters that tilt and stretch like hand lettering.

The smaller pieces repay a close look:

  • A curved line beside the "5" says "♥재욱아♥ 생일 축하해♥", which means "Jae-wook, happy birthday".
  • A tear-off calendar page at the lower right shows "5 MAY", "1998", "SUN" and a large "10". Its footer reads "애기호랭 태어난 날", roughly "the day the baby tiger was born".
  • Two note-style labels next to the calendar read "98.05.10" and "이재욱♥".
  • A line-drawn tiger in a party hat and a tiny cake with a candle sit in the top right corner.
  • A QR code is printed at the lower left, with a caption that names the group's open chat room. We have blurred the code in our photos.

When did it run?

The photos were taken early on 11 May 2026, the day after the date on the artwork. So the panel was still lit on the morning after the birthday. We do not have the start and end dates, and we have left those fields empty.

Who organized it?

A rounded box at the top right of the ad reads "안고독한 이재욱방", and the QR caption repeats the same name. Next to the box is the line "재욱이 하고 싶은거 다해 서포트는 안고독이 할게", roughly "Jae-wook, do everything you want to do, and we will take care of the support".

That is the credit as printed. We know nothing further about the group, so we quote the name in Korean exactly as it appears and do not translate it.

What is a subway lightbox ad?

A subway lightbox is a framed print on a station wall with lighting behind it. Passages like this one have no daylight, and the even glow keeps pale colours clean. The blue and white here would look flat on plain paper, but backlit they read clearly from the far end of the corridor.

The wide format also suits a design with many small parts. This panel fits a portrait, a headline, a date in giant numbers, a calendar, two labels, a greeting and a credit, and it still has open space. People walking through catch the numbers first; people who stop find the rest.

How can fans overseas place a similar ad in Korea?

Fans outside Korea can arrange a station lightbox from home. The steps are:

  1. Decide the occasion and the date. For a birthday, also decide whether the panel should stay up after the day.
  2. Choose the medium and the place: a lightbox in a station, a screen door, a digital screen or a city bus.
  3. Prepare the message and the photos, and confirm that you have the right to use them.
  4. Tell us what you have in mind. We will answer with the options that are open for your dates.

Actor birthdays draw fan projects just as idol birthdays do, and wall positions in busy stations are limited, so contacting us early leaves more to choose from.
