Fans celebrated the birthday of Taeyong (태용) of NCT with lightbox ads in Seoul subway stations. Our photos show two different designs: a soft blue one that says "happy taeyong day", and a black and white one that says "HAPPY TAEYONG DAY". Both print the date "1995.07.01". Below, we describe each one and explain how fans abroad can plan a similar ad.
Where was the ad displayed?
Both ads were in wide lightboxes on station walls. The blue design hangs on a wall of green brick-shaped tiles, and the black and white design hangs on a wall of cream tiles under a low ceiling. The walls are different, so the two panels were in different spots.
No station name is readable in our photos, and we have no record of it. We also don't know the exact days the ads were up.
What did the ad look like?
The blue design. The left third holds the text. A small oval at the top gives "1995.07.01", then "Lee Taeyong" in a handwriting font, then "happy taeyong day" in three lines. Under that is a short English message: "to our most talented NCT leader, hope all good things will come to you." The Korean line "태용아 생일축하해" ("Taeyong, happy birthday") sits at the top. The rest of the panel is one large photo in a white frame, like a printed snapshot. A small block in the corner lists social media account names and a QR code.
The black and white design. Here the photo is on the left and the text on the right. The text column reads "July 1st" and "28th" at the top, then "1995.07.01", the Korean line "태용아 생일 축하해", and "HAPPY TAEYONG DAY" in tall serif letters. A large pale "ty" sits behind the words. A thin line at the bottom carries the credit "ALLFORTAEYONG CHINA TAEYONGBAR" and the initials "TY."
When did it run?
The artwork celebrates 1 July and one design is marked "28th". Neither design prints the year it ran, and our photos carry no date, so we do not state a year.
Who organized it?
The black and white ad is signed "ALLFORTAEYONG CHINA TAEYONGBAR". The blue ad has a small "to … from …" line that is too small to read with confidence in our photos, so we are not quoting it. We can't say whether one group or two placed these ads.
What is a subway lightbox ad?
A lightbox is a backlit frame fixed to a station wall. The light behind the print keeps colours even, which is why a quiet design with a lot of white space, like these two, still stands out underground.
These panels also show how much room one frame gives you. Both use the same idea, one photo and one column of text, yet they feel very different: one is airy and pastel, the other is sharp and editorial. If your fan group has two strong photos, two frames with two moods can work better than squeezing both into one.
How can fans overseas place a similar ad in Korea?
Fans outside Korea can arrange this from home. In general:
- Decide what you are celebrating and on which date.
- Decide where it should appear: a station lightbox, a city bus or another spot.
- Prepare the wording and the photos, and confirm you have the right to use them.
- Send us your idea, and we will reply with the options open for those dates.
If you want more than one design, tell us at the start, because each frame is booked separately.
Read How It Works for the full process, then request a quote. Costs depend on the ad type and dates, so please contact us for a quote.
