In December 2024, fans of V (뷔) of BTS put a three-part ad on upright digital screens at taxi stand shelters in Yongsan, Seoul. Each design carries the same headline, "HAPPY V DAY", in puffy balloon letters over a heart, and each is signed "AWESOME TAETAE". The material is filed in our archive as a BTS V birthday ad, and our photos were taken on 16 December 2024. This page describes what our photos show, what we do not know, and how fans in other countries can plan something similar.
Where was the ad displayed?
The screens are built into the end wall of glass shelters on a wide pavement beside a main road. In the photos where the pole above the shelter is in frame, its sign reads "택시 TAXI", so these are taxi stand shelters, each with a bench under a flat roof.
In one set of photos, a blue road sign behind the shelter reads "한강대로 Hangang-daero", a main road in Seoul. That is the only place name we can read in the pictures. Our booking record places the stand in Yongsan, central Seoul. No stand name or number is readable in the photos, so we give none.
What did the ad look like?
The screen is a tall portrait panel, and the three designs take turns on it. All three share one layout: a small label at the top, a large portrait in the middle, the headline across the lower third and the credit line beneath it.
Violet design. V wears a dark pinstripe suit and an in-ear monitor against a violet background. The balloon letters are a glassy silver-purple. The label at the top reads "보라해 태형아 ♥", roughly "I purple you, Taehyung".
Pale blue design. A close, smiling portrait in a dark top sits on a soft blue background with cloud shapes. The headline is in ice-blue letters, with a small heart perched on the "H".
Pink design. Here he wears a blue knit hat with ear flaps and a yellow jacket. The letters turn pale pink, and a small childhood photo is placed in the bottom right corner, next to the word "DAY".
The top label is easy to read on the violet design. On the other two, glare on the glass makes it too faint to quote with confidence, so we have quoted it only once.
When did it run?
The photos were taken on 16 December 2024. That date comes from our own record; the pictures carry no date stamp. Low sun and bare street trees fit it. We do not have the first and last days of the booking, so the run dates are blank.
The words on the screens do not include "birthday" either. "HAPPY V DAY" follows the pattern fans commonly use for birthday ads, and that is how this material is labelled in our files.
Who organized it?
Every design ends with the line "AWESOME TAETAE" under the point of the heart. That is the credit as it appears on the screen. We do not know more about the people behind it, so we keep to those two words.
What is a taxi stand digital screen ad?
Some street shelters in Seoul have a digital panel in place of a printed poster. The panel faces the pavement and the road, so it is seen by people walking past, people waiting and passengers in passing cars. Because it is a screen, one position can rotate through several images.
This ad uses that well. Three portraits with three colour moods share one headline and one credit, so a passer-by who sees only a single design still gets the whole message. One practical note from our photos: outdoor screens sit behind glass, and in daylight the glass picks up reflections. Strong contrast and large lettering, like the balloon letters here, stay readable when smaller text does not.
How can fans overseas place a similar ad in Korea?
A street screen ad can be arranged without travelling to Korea. The usual order is:
- Settle the occasion and the date, for example a birthday.
- Pick the medium and the area: a street shelter screen, a subway station, a city bus or another format.
- Prepare your wording and images, and check that you have the right to use each photo. With a rotating screen, decide how many designs you want.
- Send us your plan. We will reply with the options that are open for your dates.
Birthdays are fixed dates, and artwork needs time for checks before it goes on a screen, so an early start helps.
